Due to the very poor weather in early spring I decided to start most of my crops in plastic cells (24 to a tray ) Among the seeds sown this way were : -

Cabbages, Sprouts, Broccoli, Turnips, Swede, Parsnips, Runner Beans and French Beans. By the 1st of May all were planted in the plot apart from the Runner and French beans, (Frost Tender). They now take their chances.

Apart from main crop Potatoes, I am trying out what I can only call Lazy Potatoes, So called because there is no digging involved.

The eight pictures below were taken on 04-06-08 and show the rest of the plot starting to take shape. A few days of rain mixed with a little sunshine ( plus a lot of work ) and Mother Nature does the rest.

8-7-08 Well the weather has not improved a great deal. every other day we seem to have rain and lots of it. Slow progress is still being made, however I wish the sun would shine for a few days if only to cheer us all up. Below are a few more pictures of the progress being made.

Here we are again another year on the plots has begun, Time to put the dreaming with a handful of seed catalogues to one side and get on with it. Over the winter months my plot had been manured and dug and already early potatoes have been planted. Once again I am going to try one bed of Anya under black plastic  (see lazy potatoes above)

The weather has shown a massive improvement and we are now showing results . early peas, broad beans, potatoes. onions and strawberries are starting to grow and this in itself cheers you up. we are now looking at a bit of greenery instead of just soil. 8 small rows of cabbages also planted ( 3 varieties)  under netting to deter wood pigeons.
