Memory Lane

a collection of old photo’s from around Swillington. If you have any photo’s of old Swillington you would like to add then please contact me. Dibber@talktalk.net

Created in August 2004 from a small piece of semi derelict land by the Parish Council who had the site cleared, levelled, and also had a steel fence erected. This created ten half sized plots. Over the past 5 years the plot holders have cleared, dug and manured their plots and we now have ten small but quite productive Allotments. It is hoped that we can use our web space to show some of the work being carried out on our plots and to also show the range of

Fruit and vegetables that can be grown.

This site is being developed mainly for the Allotments in Swillington but we also hope to give an insight into some of the items of interest and other activities taking place in and around the village.

If you have an idea for a new page on our site then just send an   e-mail with a few details and we shall try and and fit it in.

Swillington Art Club

We have a small but active Art Club (about 15 members ) that meet in the community centre each week. If you are interested then pop along. All are welcome.

Services. Tried and Tested.

Swillington in bloom is organized by a dedicated team who’s aim is to bring a little cheer to the village. They work extremely hard in all weather’s on a totally voluntary  basis. Would you like to help? Then get in touch.

The Allotments

There has been a church here for at least 900 years. The Doomsday survey of 1086 tells us that “a church is there” but no records of that building remain.

The church you see today is a grade 2 listed building over 600 years old, built around 1360.
